Bulawayo: Its all systems go at Shisha Vintage Bar on Saturday, 19/08/2017, where a fundraising event dubbed Black-Tie, organised by WithLove for Simanyane Trust, will take place.
Withlove is an organisation formed by House of Miriam boutique’s current ambassador Lynn Mabuya and her manager Muzzie Malik with an aim of giving back to the community. The two partnered to help the needy as a way of showing their appreciation of what the community has done for them.
“The event aims at raising funds for Simanyane Trust as it struggles to raise funds to build a descent kitchen for its operations. We are trying to raise funds to buy material for its (Simanyane Trust) kitchen and eventually build it ” said Malik.
Simanyane Trust is said to be run by an established organisation(name not supplied). The event is one of its kind as WithLove will host a “Bid-a-Date” charity auction where Bulawayo’s celebrities and prominent public figures will grace the occasion and will be auctioned.
He said: “The celebrities will be auctioned to the public and the highest bidders will have a date with them(celebrities). It will be one of those unique fundraising events where there will be a lot of fun and entertainment”, said Malik adding that House of Miriam plays an important part in facilitating for the proceedings and covering the costs for the event.
Malik calls upon the Bulawayo business people to pledge with anything that can help towards the cause. He said that the community needs support from the local people for it to grow and compete with other regions or provinces.
Added Malik: “The community is slowly getting on board and they arm us with very powerful ideas. We are so much impressed by the support we get from our community and as such we believe that the sky is the limit.”
“As a new kid in the block in this sector we have partnered with some established organisations for us to learn a few tricks from them so that we can be effective in our projects.”
The stance taken by WithLove has seen the foreign diaspora throwing their weight behind the organisation.
“We are so happy to see the foreign diaspora who sympathise with humanitarian projects being supportive and encouraging.”
Lynn Mabuya said that it has been her wish to give back to the community that has moulded her to what she is today.
She said: “I would like to always give back to the community that groomed and moulded me to what I am today.”
The event will be graced by Bulawayo celebrities in the form of Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAAZ) winners Calvin Nhliziyo, BAAZ model of the year Shadel Noble, SkyzMetro FM DJ Bkay, BAAZ photographer of the year Mgcini Nyoni, to name but a few.
